3 days in Berlin: techno temples & marathon club nights
A nightlife-only long weekend in the club capital: dig vinyl at Hard Wax, warm up above Neukoelln at sunset, then go deep: Tresor's vault on Friday, the Berghain Klubnacht Saturday into Sunday, Sisyphos's open-air Sunday session, and the gritty Golden Gate marathon to close it out.

- 3 pm1Dig for vinyl at Hard WaxBerlin
The pre-club pilgrimage. Founded 1989 by Basic Channel's Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald, Hard Wax is the mecca where Berlin DJs — Marcel Dettmann, DJ Hell, Modeselektor among its alumni staff — dig for vinyl. Moved in autumn 2023 from Paul-Lincke-Ufer into the Kraftwerk complex, the same building as Tresor. Listening stations, zero attitude toward serious digging; ask the staff, they know everything. Open Mon-Sat 3-8pm, so hit it Friday afternoon before the night starts.
8 min by train or taxi · 3.3 km - 7 pm2Sunset drinks at KlunkerkranichBerlin
Warm up above the city. A rooftop bar on top of the Neukölln Arcaden parking garage with panoramic sunset views over Kreuzberg and DJs most evenings. Get the sunset table, have a couple of drinks, plan the night — and stay past dark, when the skyline turns neon. A gentle on-ramp before the vaults.
8 min by train or taxi · 3.3 km - 11 pm3Tresor: the Friday-night vaultBerlin
Friday's main event. Tresor has been the vault of Berlin techno since 1991, now inside a decommissioned power station — concrete corridors, red-lit basements, the almost-100-foot tunnel to the main floor, and the soulful Globus room upstairs when the hard floor gets too much. Parties run Wed/Fri/Sat, doors around 11pm, entry roughly €7-15. Dress dark and casual; know who's playing before you queue. (Window above is the recommended arrival time; the club runs straight through to the next morning.)

- 1 pm4Currywurst recovery at Curry 36Berlin
Recovery, Berlin-style. The legendary currywurst stand — grilled sausage, crispy fries, and the secret curry ketchup, open 9am to 5am daily. Standing tables, constant queue, absolutely no pretense. Eat slow; the marathon resumes tonight.
8 min by train or taxi · 4.2 km - 11 pm5Berghain Klubnacht: Saturday into SundayBerlin
The Klubnacht. The former East German power station runs Saturday midnight to Monday morning straight — the turbine-hall Berghain floor for techno, Panorama Bar upstairs for house, the garden in summer. Doors are famously selective: go solo or as a pair, know who's playing, wear black and grungy, bring cash and earplugs, accept that the phone camera gets taped and the wait can run an hour even on Sunday morning. Entry around €25-30, no presale. Sunday morning entry usually has the most relaxed crowd — many regulars swear by it. (Window above is the recommended arrival time; the club runs straight through to the next morning.)
- Day 34 pm – 11:59 pm · 2 stops
- 4 pm6Sunday afternoon at SisyphosBerlin
The Sunday session. Sisyphos runs from Friday 10pm to Monday around noon, 60 hours straight, across multiple floors, huts, and an outdoor party ground. Enter Sunday afternoon: the queue is shortest, the garden is at its best, and you can stamp out for a nap and come back. Mythologically named, practically endless.
11 min by train or taxi · 6.8 km - 11 pm7Golden Gate: the Sunday-to-Monday marathonBerlin
Close the weekend in the grit. Under the Jannowitzbrücke train tracks, Golden Gate is small, dark, undecorated — and open from Friday midnight straight through to Monday morning, so Sunday night entry is fair game. Up-front tech house from Berlin residents, some of the longest operating hours in the city. Leave for the airport straight from the dancefloor; that's the Berlin way. (Window above is the recommended arrival time; the club runs straight through to the next morning.)
