The day, as they ran it
  1. 8:15 am1
Galleria dell'Accademia on the 08:15 slotFlorence

€20 plus the €4 booking fee, through b-ticket.com — the state platform, not one of the resellers that adds €20 for the same slot. Entry is a 15-minute arrival window, and the long line on Via Ricasoli is people who do not have one. Closed Mondays. Walk past David to the unfinished Prisoners first and come back to him around 09:00, when the room briefly empties between windows.

  2. 9:45 am2
Coffee and a bombolone standing at RobiglioFlorence

Two minutes from the Accademia on Via dei Servi. Drink it at the bar: table service is a legally separate, higher price list and the sign on the wall says so. The bombolone is filled to order, which is the whole difference.

  3. 10:45 am3
Uffizi, timed entry at Door 1Florence

Reserved tickets go in at Door 1. Door 3 is the exchange desk and swallows twenty minutes for nothing — people queue there because it is the first door they reach. The €4 booking fee is per ticket and unavoidable on the official site. From 1 January 2026 an entry from 16:00 onwards costs €16, which is the cheap way in if you would rather do this at the end of a day than the middle of one. Closed Mondays.

  4. 1:45 pm4
    Lunch at Trattoria CammilloFlorence

Over the Ponte Vecchio on Borgo San Jacopo, family-run since 1945, and full of Florentines rather than of us by 13:30. Book. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday, which catches people out. Ask what the fritto is that day instead of reading the menu. Verified 2026-09-06: closed Tuesday and Wednesday (some listings also show no Thursday lunch), so this day is Friday-to-Monday.

  5. 3:15 pm5
Marbled paper at Giulio Giannini e FiglioFlorence

Facing Palazzo Pitti; bookbinders on this spot since 1856. Ask to see the marbling tray in the back room — they will show you if the shop is quiet, which it is mid-afternoon and never is at 11:00. A notebook is around €16 and is the only thing sold on this street that was made on it.

    12 min walk · 900 m
  6. 4:15 pm6
Antico Setificio Fiorentino, if the appointment comes throughFlorence

A working silk mill on Via Lorenzo Bartolini, weaving on looms from the 1780s and warping on a machine built to a Leonardo drawing. Visits are by written appointment only and they do say no, so email a week ahead and hold this slot loosely — which is why it sits here as a maybe rather than a plan.

    13 min walk · 1.0 km
  7. 6 pm7
Aperitivo at Le Volpi e l'UvaFlorence

Six stools in Piazza dei Rossi behind Santa Felicita, pouring small growers by the glass and cutting the crostini to order. Tell them what you drank at lunch and let them pick; that is the entire service model and it is better than any list.

    12 min walk · 950 m
  8. 7:15 pm8
The Giardino delle Rose at duskFlorence

Free, and it is the terrace below Piazzale Michelangelo rather than on it: the same skyline, Folon's bronzes standing about in the grass, and none of the coaches. The gate is on Viale Giuseppe Poggi. Verified 2026-09-06: free, open daily from 09:00, closing 20:00 from 1 May to 30 September, 19:00 in April, 18:00 in March and October and 17:00 from November to February — so this 19:15 slot only exists in the May–September window; any other month, move it ahead of the aperitivo.
