The day, as they ran it
  1. 8 am1
Collect the Dolomiti Superski day pass at the Ciampinoi baseSelva di Val Gardena

Buy the pass online the night before and collect from the machine, not the window — the window queue at 08:15 is the single biggest reason people miss the loop. One Dolomiti Superski pass covers every lift on the circuit; you never pay again all day.

  2. 8:25 am2
Ciampinoi cable car, first or second cabinSelva di Val Gardena

Green (anticlockwise) is the direction to ride if you start from Selva: you hit Passo Sella early while the orange crowd is still stacking up at Dantercepies. Be moving before 09:00 — the whole circuit is only comfortable if the last pass is behind you by 15:30.

  3. 9 am3
Down to Plan de Gralba and up over Passo SellaSelva di Val Gardena

Follow the green arrows and nothing else — the signage is genuinely good and the moment you start navigating by piste map you lose twenty minutes. Sassolungo is on your right the whole way; this is the prettiest quarter of the loop and the one everyone skis too fast.

12 min by train or taxi · 7.7 km
  4. 10:15 am4
Lupo Bianco across to Belvedere, then down to Passo PordoiCanazei

The Belvedere sector is the sunniest stretch and softens first. If it is already slushy here at 11:00, you are running late for the whole day — skip the detours and keep pressing east.

  5. 11:45 am5
Arabba: down the Portados side and up the Burz chairArabba

Arabba is the steepest ground on the circuit and the one place a nervous skier can get stuck. If anyone in the group is wobbling, take the Porta Vescovo cable car down rather than the black — it costs nothing extra on the pass.

  6. 12:30 pm6
Long lunch at Rifugio Bec de Roces above Passo CampolongoArabba

Book this table when you buy the pass, not on the morning of — it sits at the top of the Le Pale and Campolongo chairs, exactly where every Sellaronda skier arrives hungry at 12:30. Order the casunziei and one glass, not two: the last two passes are the ones people fall on.

8 min by train or taxi · 2.8 km
  7. 2 pm7
Corvara: the Boè gondola and across to ColfoscoCorvara in Badia

This is the decision point. If it is past 15:00 when you reach Corvara, stop the loop and take the bus home from here — the Val Setus chair closes early and being on the wrong side of Passo Gardena at 16:15 is a taxi around three passes.

  8. 3:10 pm8
Val Setus to Passo Gardena, Dantercepies, and the run homeSelva di Val Gardena

The Dantercepies descent back into Selva is the best-earned run in the Dolomites and it faces west, so you finish the loop skiing into the light. Do not stop at the halfway bar — finish the run first, then walk back up to it.
